Voted Canada’s Female athlete of the Half Century in 1950, Fanny “Bobbie” Rosenfeld (1905-1969) was an outstanding competitor in numerous sports such as track and field, hockey, softball and basketball. At the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam, she captured the silver medal in the 100-metres sprint, with fellow Canadian Ethel Smith coming in third. Both women also contributed to the gold medal win and world record time in the 4 x 100-metre relay race.
