Anne Heggtveit
Anne Heggtveit and her Olympic gold medal, 1960, by E. Ferrat

The victory of Anne Heggtveit (born 1939) in the slalom event at the 1960 Squaw Valley (USA) Olympic Games gave Canada its first ever gold medal in skiing. With her win, Heggtveit also became the first non-European to claim the International Ski Federation overall and slalom world championships for the 1960 season.
