Bobby Orr
Bobby Orr, 16 September 1976, by Allan R. Leishmann/Peter Brosseau

What is this Canadian hockey great doing in a Czech national team uniform? This photo of his favourite player would probably leave a well-known hockey commentator speechless... As the best defenceman to ever play the game, Bobby Orr (born 1948) revolutionized the game of hockey with his speed and his open ice artistry. Despite being limited by knee injuries which would later force him to retire early, Orr was named the 1976 Canada Cup tournament’s most valuable player. The photo captures a smiling Orr, just after he has exchanged his Number Four sweater with his Czech counterpart at the conclusion of the final game of the tournament won by Team Canada.
