If you can't be in Ottawa on the evening of Tuesday, May 23 for the public conversation between John Ralston Saul and David Malouf on the theme Revisiting Mythologies, please join us on the Web. The National Library of Canada will provide a live audio webcast of this historic meeting of two great minds on its Web site, <www.collectionscanada.gc.ca>, beginning at 8:00 p.m. EDT. Australian novelist David Malouf, winner of the 1996 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, and John Ralston Saul, award-winning Canadian public philosopher, will explore the myths of their respective countries and examine the likenesses and differences that they find. The evening will be moderated by journalist Jeffrey Simpson. This audio webcast is a first for the National Library and presages a renewed commitment to bringing the Library's collections and programs to people everywhere by using the newest technologies. To that end, the Library has established the Digital Library of Canada Task Force, which will spearhead these exciting developments.
