The National Library of Canada at the 36e Salon du livre de Rimouski

Ottawa, October 31, 2001  --  The National Library of Canada is pleased to announce that it will be taking part in the 36e Salon du livre de Rimouski, which is being held at the Centre de congrès de l’Hôtel de Rimouski from November 1 to 4, 2001.

"I would like to congratulate the organizers of the Salon du livre de Rimouski for their hard work and dedication to the promotion of literary talent," said Roch Carrier, National Librarian of Canada. "We are eager to join them, along with editors, publishers and authors, in celebrating the joys of reading and writing."

At the Salon du livre, the National Library will have a booth displaying a wide variety of publications and materials that describe its programs and services, and staff will be on hand to answer questions. School groups and visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to view sections of the Library’s official Web site (www.collectionscanada.gc.ca), including AMICUS, the complete digital database of the holdings of the National Library as well as those of over 1 300 other Canadian libraries, and the Virtual Gramophone, which features an extensive catalogue of Canadian music.

The National Library of Canada is a federal cultural institution, located in Ottawa, whose main role is to acquire, protect and promote Canada’s published heritage. The Library serves as one of the nation’s foremost centres for research in Canadian Studies and as a showcase for Canadian literature and music.
