Lheidli T'enneh Band [Surrender Fort George IR 1]

In December 2003, the Commission accepted the request of the First Nation to conduct an inquiry into its rejected claim respecting the surrender in 1911 of its reserve, in what is now downtown Prince George, for sale to the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. A planning conference was held in June 2004. Canada’s documents were received in February 2005, and this material has been processed by the Commission’s research staff.

The statement of issues for this inquiry has been drafted; the First Nation is reviewing it and may revisit the issues if necessary. The dates for a staff visit and a community session are to be determined once the parties agree on the legal issues.
