Walpole Island First Nation [Pelee Island]

The claimant alleges that Pelee Island was never formally surrendered and, if it was, compensation was never paid to the members of the Walpole Island First Nation. Canada agrees that Pelee Island was not formally surrendered, but argues that the claim falls outside the scope of the Specific Claims Policy. In November 1996, this inquiry was closed.
