Robert McClure and the Secret of the Northwest Passage

Transportation

Drawing: McClure's ship

McClure served in many types of ships in his long career, but the ones he is most known for are HMS Enterprise and HMS Investigator. These were sailing ships that had been fitted with steam engines. They were the two ships that McClure used to try to find Franklin in 1848 and 1850. Each carried three years' worth of food for the journey.
