Edward Hackett, was born in Tignish. The Hackett family was important in the Tignish
area during the founding years. Edward Hackett, spent the majority of his life involved
in politics. He and Stanislaus Perry traded their Prince County seat back and fourth
several times between 1874 and 1900. Hackett, was elected in the 1st district of Prince
County from 1876 to 1878. In the late 19th century he was elected to the federal
government as a representative from Tignish.
