Weather Signs

The weather has always been a subject of superstition and curiosity. Predicting the weather was a carefully studied art when modern forecasts didn't exist. Farmers and fishermen watched the sky and land constantly for signs of what was to come in the next hour or day. Even yet there are people who use this knowledge, those who can tell you the storm forecast by glancing at cows in a field. Maybe when you finish reading this list you can do the same.

Red sky at night, sailors delight.

Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning.

Ring around the moon, sailors doom.

If you intentionally step on a caterpillar it will rain.

If you intentionally kill a spider it will rain.

If you spot a blue-jay it means that it is going to rain.

If the potato pot boils dry there will be rain.

When cows huddle together it means a storm is coming.

When you notice cows laying down means rain is coming.

If there are lots of seagulls on land means there is a coming storm.
