Here a horse and buggy are parked in front of the Story building, the first store in Wawanesa. Down the street the hardware building can be seen. The number of businesses downtown at the turn of the century far exceeded the number today. People could not conveniently travel to Brandon so all goods and services were available right in Wawanesa.
