Bibliography

When she illustrated her French compositions at her CEGEP (Collège d'enseignement général et professionnel), Mireille Levert's professor not only encouraged her to continue her studies at art school, but also asked her to illustrate the children's books which he had written. She has since gone on to illustrate and write many more books for children, and has created art for magazine covers and textbooks. She describes herself as an observer and admits to being fascinated by people from all walks of life. Little children, animals, toys, and snowmen are all brought to life in her rich and engaging pictures. Her style is distinctive; the solid shapes, and flat surfaces reflect an almost child-like perspective. She works in watercolours; a medium which best suits the warm tones and the fluid lines of her luminous pictures.

1992 Governor General's Literary Award/Children's Literature, for best illustrations in an English book for Sleep Tight, Mrs. Ming.
