Incorporated in 1852, the Grand Trunk Railway was designed to link the port of Halifax to the rest of Canada. This timetable for the lines connecting Montreal-Toronto-Detroit, Montreal-Portland and Montreal-Levis dates from the beginning and still modest years of the company. By Confederation, the Grand Trunk Railway was the largest railway system in the world.
