Speed of Home Internet Service - text version

This horizontal bar graph is titled “Data Transfer Cap for Home Internet Service.” For both the representative and open surveys, it shows the breakdown of answers to the question, “As far as you know, what is the speed of Internet service that you subscribe to in your home (i.e. what is indicated by your service provider)? This is sometimes referred to as download or downstream speed of your connection (frequently measured in Megabits per second [Mbps])?” for both the representative and open surveys. The 1,522 respondents in the representative survey who have home Internet answered as follows:

• Less than 1.5 Mbps, 1%
• 1.5 Mbps to 4 Mbps, 4%
• 5 Mbps to 9 Mbps, 7%
• 10 Mbps to 14 Mbps, 6%
• 15 Mbps to 24 Mbps, 7%
• 25 Mbps to 49 Mbps, 10%
• 50 Mbps to 99 Mbps, 7%
• 100 Mbps to 150 Mbps, 6%
• More than 150 Mbps, 3%
• Don’t know/ No response, 50%

The 27,152 respondents in the open survey who have home Internet responded as follows:
