Practicing drums with a music
track is a useful practice. However, in order to hear the
music track over the drums, these sessions require either
loud speakers or headphones that are cranked up to high
volume. This is definitely bad for us as it increases the
risk of premature hearing loss (tinnitus) -- and of course,
it bothers neighbours who do not appreciate good drumming
;-)
I discovered a website
that offers a headphone especially designed for drumming
practice. These headphones isolate the eardrums from
the external noise (our drums!) thus allowing us to hear
the music tracks at a comfortable, safe level. The bleed
through the headphones is more than enough to give a nice
"balance" between the drum sounds and the music track. This
headphone seems to work very well for drummers -- plenty
of testimonials at the site from drummers!
