My writing comes from a process of accumulating sediment. Experience, imagination, truth and lies are laid down over time in layers and these layers are compressed by the weight of living. These are the strata that I mine to hone my craft.

David lives in Nanoose Bay which is a penninsula with many bays, coves and points. His home is on Madrona
Point which juts out into Georgia Strait with Northwest Bay on one side, noted for its deep sea diving, and Craig
Bay on the other side, which is a sheltered shallow bay suitable for kayaking. Nanoose is home to black bear,
black-tail deer, racoon, brown squirrel, California Quail, many migrating birds and cougar. Nanoose is
situated up-island from Nanaimo on the east coast of Vancouver Island. Nootka Sound is north and on
the west coast two or three hours from Nanoose. A few years ago David went there with an oyster fisherman
friend to live and harvest oysters. Long Beach, Tofino is west of Nanoose also three hours by car on the
west coast. The beach is probably the longest fine sand beach in the world which is popular with surfers.
As you can see, Vancouver Island is quite large and offers many outdoor activities and beautiful scenery.

WRITING EXCERPTS FROM ONE SWEET RIDE
Buddha doesn’t want for much
beneath the willow, losing leaves,
what was of the paper nest
is flying through the air,
black bear with nothing
more than hunger will
start her spring.
