Sanofi Biogenius Canada (SBC) is a national biotechnology research competition that is open to high school and CEGEP students across the country. Since 1993, Sanofi Biogenius Canada has helped almost 5,000 exceptional young Canadians pursue real-world, cutting-edge scientific research projects that have been the launch pads to future studies and careers in biotechnology. 

What distinguishes SBC from science fairs and other competitions is that it’s a real-life experience for the participants, who pursue ground-breaking research projects with local mentors. Through their participation in the program, they are given access to a network that extends far beyond the classroom. 

In recent years, participants have explored research projects that have tackled such topics as the world's deadliest brain cancer; the tailoring of stem cell treatments for Parkinson’s disease; the management of symptoms for HIV patients and a potential new therapy to reduce the severity of diabetes.

In Saskatchewan, the competition is open to students in Grades 7 to 12.

Nine Saskatoon students are participating in the regional competition this year, working with mentors on research projects this year.

The competition takes place the afternoon of April 21, 2015.
Posters will be on display for public viewing in the Candle-Span Room, The Atrium at Innovation Place (111 Research Drive).

The banquet is on Wednesday, April 23rd.
