NETTIE WIEBE
“Who’s Cooking the Food System? Globalization and Food Sovereignty”
Date: 23 March 2006
Time: 7:30 pm
Place: Campion Auditorium
What’s cooking for dinner is increasingly a function of how the global food trade is structured. Exploring the relationship between what we eat, where it comes from and who controls the food system evokes key questions about justice, sustainability and food sovereignty.
Nettie Wiebe has been described as “a public intellectual,” “an agrarian feminist” and “a social activist”. She earns those various descriptions as she farms, teaches ethics at St. Andrews College (U. of S.) and participates actively in local and global public discourse.
