I think it's great to see people, even (especially!) academics, who still have a sense of humor. This is a brilliantly conceived and written piece of satire, and it highlights the level to which the diagnoses of psychiatric and behavioral disorders has become absurd. When it has become plausible to recommend treatment by the prescription of mood/behavior altering drugs to nearly all of the characters who not only provided amusement but simple, common-sense instructions on how to live (or not to in some cases), it is clear that something is wrong with the current paradigm. While not wishing to undermine the very real behavior and social disorders that exist, it should be obvious that not every sort of action that deviates from a fictional norm merits treatment. Almost as entertaining as the article itself were the comments from people who view this a colossal waste of time. There’s nothing quite as humorous as someone who takes satire too seriously.
