In this Logie essay (CMAJ 1996; 154: 927-929 [full text / résumé]), Deepak Kaura stated that, "To support the use of germ-line therapy, Baird made a distinction between genetic alteration for `prevention' versus alteration for `improvement.' " In fact, Dr. Patricia Baird's article does not support the use of germ-line therapy. We regret this error. -- Ed.
