BCMA publishes voter's guide

The British Columbia Medical Association (BCMA) was ready for the announcement of the provincial election -- it quickly published a voter's guide on health issues for British Columbians that was widely distributed and made available through physicians' offices. The BCMA published the Liberal, Reform and New Democratic Party responses to eight questions, along with its own responses on behalf of the province's 8000 physicians. Questions concerned pressing medical issues such as regionalization, health care financing, patients' rights, core medical services, waiting lists, regional health board representation and the right to choose a family doctor.
