Biographical abstract: Steven Totosy works in the humanities and social sciences in comparative culture and media studies, communication studies, diaspora, exile, postcolonial, and ethnic minority studies, film and literature, English, French, German, Central European, US, and Canadian cultures and literatures, history, bibliographies, new media scholarship and knowledge management, and editing. At the University of Alberta 1984-2000, since 2000 he resides in Boston where he lectured in communication and media studies at Northeastern University, and at present he is professor of media and communication studies at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany. He is author, editor, or co-editor of some twenty books and author of over 150 articles, book chapters, bibliographies, and encyclopedia entries. Works also published in French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Chinese, Polish, and Spanish translation. Recent books include Comparative Literature: Theory, Method, Application (Rodopi, 1998), edited volumes include Comparative Central European Culture (Purdue UP, 2002) and Comparative Literature and Comparative Cultural Studies (Purdue UP, 2002).
