Canadian Children's Book Week
November 18-25, 1995
The Canadian Children's Book Centre has proclaimed November 18-25 as Canadian Children's Book Week. Now in its nineteenth year, Book Week is the single most important nation-wide festival of books and reading. The theme this year is ``Picture This" -- honouring the work of the many talented Canadian Illustrators of children's books.
Touring Manitoba will be Janet Wilson, Ontario illustrator of more than thirty books (picture books, as well as fiction and non-fiction), Martin Springett, Ontario illustrator of many books for children, Ishbel Moore, Manitoba author of books for nine- to twelve-year-olds, and Linda Holeman, new Manitoba author of books for young adults.

To raise funds, the Canadian Children's Book Centre is holding a major auction of children's illustrators' works at the start of Book Week. It will be possible to participate in this exciting event wherever you live in Canada.
Centre staff are also selling ``Read Across Canada" t-shirts, book bags, note blocks, note cards, and post cards. Designed by award-winning artist Vladyana Krykora, these attractive products help spread the word about the Centre and its work. They're in stock, but they's selling fast!
Newly released this spring is the Centre's Writing Stories, Making Pictures: Biographies of 150 Children's Authors and Illustrators. Written in their own words, each artist answers the questions kids most often ask. This is the largest and most comprehensive guide of its kind, and an invaluable resource for schools and libraries. 352pp, 8.5" x 11", $39.95 (paper), ISBN 0-929095-X.
