Spring Conference and AGM

Location: Cross Common Room, St. John’s College, University of Manitoba
The spring conference will focus on the theme of stress and stress management: identifying stress and dealing effectively with stress. The theme speaker and session co-ordinator is Rosalyn Howard. There will be an opening plenary session, followed by two parallel workshops, one regarding technology and the other with a variety of other aspects of stress - including priorities, workplace relationships, and work environment supports.
Rosalyn Howard, M.A. with Howard Consulting and Training has been supporting learning and organizational change for many years, and has experience in many contexts, including several international projects. She focuses on planning, governance, leadership, positive workplace culture, facilitation and personal skills such as priority setting and communication. She is also Director of Learning and Development Services (LDS) at the
University of Manitoba - the unit for organizational and staff development. In that context, she has worked extensively with the U of M Libraries.
A parallel session, "Designing Your Own Web Page" will also be offered from 10:20 - 12:00 a.m. Brian McLean (Information Services and Technology Training Group, University of Manitoba) will lead this session, which will offer hands on experience in a computer lab.
This session will provide an introduction to Dreamweaver and an overview of the tools used to create web pages. Topics in this session include: defining a site, creating basic web pages, and publishing a site.

Three New MLA eMail Lists
At the request of some of our members to facilitate more focused communication in a few specific areas, three new email lists have been created — MLA-NP, MLA-RURAL and MLA-TRUSTEES.
