Department of Ophthalmology

Welcome to the Department of Ophthalmology. Our department consists of 28 faculty members mostly based in the community. Collectively we provide all ophthalmic care for the province. Our main center for surgery and teaching is at the Misericordia Health Center. Currently we provide undergraduate teaching to all University of Manitoba medical students plus provide electives for local and other students. Current research in the Department is focused around genetic development of the retina, diabetic retinopathy, and wait times for cataract surgery.
