The newly revised Independent Practice document is now available online. It replaces the former two-page guideline with the same name.
The new document is tailored to address the unique issues self-employed nurses face and it illustrates how nursing accountabilities apply to independent practice. For instance, it highlights information about the collection, use and disclosure of client health records, from the perspective of the Health Information Custodian. As well, references to therapeutic nurse-client relationships focus on accepting new clients and discontinuing services; issues that are of particular interest to nurses who run their own practices.
