From January 17 to February 3, elections were held in the following districts:
- Eastern (RN only; Megan Sloan acclaimed as RPN Council member)
- Northeastern (RN and RPN)
- Northwestern (RN only; Michael Hogard acclaimed as RPN Council member)

Council members make decisions about the regulation of nursing in the public interest. You can participate in nursing regulation by voting for the candidate(s) who you think have the background and experience to make the best decisions in the public interest.

What districts are holding elections in 2014?
The 2014 Council elections will be held in the following electoral districts. Review the table below to find out if you are eligible to be a candidate or to vote.
Electoral District 4 (Eastern District)
Composed of the united counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, Prescott and Russell, the County of Renfrew and the regional municipality of Ottawa-Carleton.
- 2 RNs and 1 RPN will be elected
Electoral District 5 (Northeastern District)
Composed of the territorial districts of Algoma, Cochrane, Manitoulin, Parry Sound, Nipissing, Sudbury and Timiskaming, and the district municipality of Muskoka.
- 1 RN and 1 RPN will be elected
Electoral District 6 (Northwestern District)
Composed of the territorial districts of Rainy River, Thunder Bay and Kenora.

What are the candidate requirements?
To be eligible to run as a candidate, you must:
- Be nominated in writing (using the nomination form) by two members in the same district and category.
- Be a member of the General or Extended Class.
- Work/reside in an electoral district in which the election is taking place (find your electoral district).
- Hold a certificate of registration that:
-is not subject to terms, conditions or limitations
-has not been revoked or suspended in the six years before the election for any reason other than non-payment of fees.
- Not be subject to any professional misconduct, incompetence or incapacity finding in the past three years.
- Not have been disqualified by Council in the three years before the date of the election.
- Complete and file a Conflict of Interest form (provided by the College on receipt of nomination) by the deadline set by the College.
What are the voter requirements?
To be eligible to vote, you must:
- be a member of the College of Nurses of Ontario in the General or Extended Class
- not be in default of payment of fees
- work or reside in the voting district
What is the time commitment for Council members?
It is a privilege to be elected to Council, but it is also a significant commitment. If elected, your term will run from June 2014 to June 2017.
Council meets for one day, four times a year. Every Council member also serves on one statutory committee, and may also participate on a standing committee.
The College provides Council and committee members with a daily stipend of $250 for attending meetings. In specific circumstances, the College will provide a daily stipend for preparatory time and travel. The College also covers travel expenses within specific policies.
