News on H7N9 Avian Influenza

On April 1, 2013, the World Health Organization confirmed that individuals in China are infected with influenza A(H7N9).

At this time, the risk to Ontarians is low.

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has released information on influenza A(H7N9) for health workers and health sector employers. It provides information on what to watch for, laboratory testing and treatment recommendations, and appropriate occupational health and safety, and infection prevention and control measures.

The College is engaged in communications with the Ministry. As this issue unfolds, the Ministry will continue to share up-to-date information at www.ontario.ca/avianinfluenza.
