When shopping for baby boy clothes, I found two choices -- baby blue traditional sleepers or miniature man clothes. I wanted the softness
of baby clothes with at least a bit of style for modern little guys.

These tiny pants have all the tailored details of grownup cargo pants in a soft, flexible knitted fabric. The cotton yarn is comfy for baby skin and an elastic waistband makes for easy changes.

Since the babies I know have little use for pockets,
the cargo flaps are sewn down for ease in wearing and washing.

Using sewing needle and thread, sew one button to each pocket flap as shown in photos. Sew one button to front of waistband just under turning row, leaving the facing turned up.
Using tapestry needle and project yarn, sew pocket assembly to sides of legs, using photo as a guide.
Using tail from BO and tapestry needle, sew facing down to form elastic casing, sewing between purl bumps on WS of fabric and BO edge.
When 2 inches remain to be sewn, cut a piece of elastic 18[19, 20, 21] inches long. Insert elastic into casing, being careful not to twist elastic. Overlap ends one inch and sew together firmly using sewing needle and thread.
Sew remaining portion of casing closed. Weave in all ends.
