Ah, winter.
What would we
do without cold weather? I don't
know, personally. I've always lived
in the northeast US or southeast
Canada (sort of the same thing,
geographically) and I love the
change of seasons. Weather is defined,
in my head, as to how sweater-friendly
it is.
This winter has
been super-friendly so far. In
fact, upon writing this, every
state in the US but one [hi, Florida!]
has snow...not quite what some
of you are used to. We hope we
can help: we've filled the issue
with layers of cozy. Lots of really
creative sweaters (but still very
wearable), some lovely lace and
super accessories, if I do say
so myself.
We hope you find

Knitting with
my handspun
For me
winter is the snuggly time, hunker
down and hide out. It’s
also the practice what you preach,
reap what you sow time – the
actually
knitting with my handspun time.
In winter, I can’t
get my yarn off the bobbin and
onto my needles fast enough.
I dry my washed skeins frightenly
close to our fireplace so they’ll
dry faster and I can start knitting
already.
Right now I have Annis on
my needles in a BFL and Merino
yarn, a huge chunky cowl out
of Columbia, and a hat in a Corriedale
cross. And that’s just
this week.
Now that Knittyspin
is live I can’t wait to
spin for the patterns there.
My girl wants Southern
Lights ("in
blue, and really soft, mom"),
I know a couple of people who
will be surprise-gifted Diversify and
I can’t wait to dig
into Lynne Vogel’s article
on Bouclé and make
a Thruway for
me.
I wish I could be so
productive knitting my handspun
all year round, but I’m
happy to take it when it comes.
