First fall. The season that means maybe it's hot outside but we are knitters, so we will pretend it's not happening and keep working on projects for when the weather gets cool again.
In my part of the world, however, it's been what I consider blissfully cool so far this summer. I know many are sincerely cranky about the lack of heat in June. Me, I'm unapologetically thrilled.
Whatever the weather where you are, we hope there's something within our pages this issue that makes you dig in your stash or click on one of our fabulous Advertisers' shop banners to start your next project.
Keep knitting. It's what keeps me sane. Or as close as I'll ever get, anyway.

Is it fall yet?
It seems the moment the first sticky days of summer hit, spinners and knitters start pining for fall. Come to think of it, maybe that's why we have a First Fall issue of Knitty that comes out in June.
Spinners comb fiber festivals stocking up on fiber, spin yarn in anticipation of making fall things, wash and prep fleeces just waiting for that first indication that the weather in changing.
Some work all summer on that perfect sweater to wear in the fall or start on holiday gifts. We are industrious in the sunshine, like the grasshopper storing up stories to tell by the fireplace.
For me this year is different. This year I'm teaching in the fall, so I am spending my summer sample spinning and puzzling through the best ways to explain the things I'm most passionate about. I love it -- reading and thinking, spinning and swatching.
