Ella Bobrow

Ella Bobrow was born on December 12, 1911, in Nikolaiev, Ukraine, and has lived in Toronto since 1950. Writing in Russian, English, and German, her poems have appeared in magazines in Canada, the U.S., Germany, France, and Argentina. Volumes of poetry have also appeared in Russian and in German. In Toronto she has coedited a Russian literary periodical, The Contemporary, and broadcasts in Russian for Radio Canada International. She is a member of PEN, the Canadian Author's Association, and the Canadian Society of Children's Authors, Illustrators, and Performers (CANSCAIP). Several of her works have now been translated and rediscovered in Russia.
