Committed to Employment Equity
Public Works and Government Services Canada is committed to being representative of the Canadian population it serves. We actively recruit members of Employment Equity designated groups and we encourage members of these groups to self-declare when they apply through our recruitment campaign.
- Members of visible minorities
- Persons with disabilities
- Aboriginal peoples, and
- Women

In 2012, PWGSC was recognized as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers.
Employee Networks
The Employee Networks are involved in many areas at PWGSC. They take part in the Joint Committee on Employment Equity and Diversity that includes upper-management and bargaining agents. They also organize numerous events enabling the promotion of diversity all throughout the year.
Our Networks, in which all employees can take part, are: the Managers’ Council, the National Youth Network, the Aboriginal Peoples Network, the Network for Persons with Disabilities, the Visible Minorities Network as well as the Pride at Work Network for the GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transgender) community.
Employment Equity and Diversity Action Plan
According to the Employment Equity Act, federal organizations must prepare a three-year plan to establish measurable objectives to reach representation of the Canadian population in the workplace. Our plan includes different elements pertaining to all our employees’ networks, creating an inclusive workplace, the duty to accommodate, as well as recruitment.
