Green Procurement

The Government of Canada is committed to implementing the Policy on Green Procurement. The policy strives to enable government to procure, operate and dispose of its assets in a manner that protects the environment and supports sustainable development objectives.

This policy applies to the procurement of goods, services and construction across all stages of the procurement process, from planning and acquisition through use, maintenance and disposal. The policy is intended to make the government a global leader in integrating environmental considerations into all aspects of our procurement system.

Given annual purchasing volumes, the federal government can have a positive impact in expanding the market for environmentally sound goods and services.
