Pay Transformation Initiative: March 2012 No. 13

Pay Modernization Project

The Pay Modernization Project is in the process of completing planning activities required for the transformation of pay administration.

The business requirements analysis and fit-gap assessment has successfully been completed. Outputs will be used to validate the costing and to develop functional specifications for the system.

The Pay Modernization Project has also successfully completed external stakeholder interviews. The results of these interviews were used to conduct comprehensive stakeholder reviews, and develop a communication strategy and plan to ensure that stakeholders receive relevant and timely information.

Compensation Employee Placement Process

On March 21, 2012, an updated Compensation Employee Placement Guide was distributed to all Heads of Human Resource (HR). The updated guide includes modifications on timelines for when managers assess employees. Managers now have seven days to do this, instead of five. Timelines that employees have to accept or reject an offer of employment have also been modified from five days to three days. To make the placement process a success, it is crucial that managers and employees understand and respect these timelines. Communication with the project team throughout the process is crucial; so we ask that this continues on a regular basis at all points during the process.

Change Agent Network

The project team continues to engage regularly with Wave 1 organizations through the Change Agent Network. Recent work has focused on planning and coordinating the transfer of work (pay accounts) to the new Pay Centre of Expertise, scheduled to take place in May 2012.
