Q1. I applied for a criminal record check (police clearance) two months ago. When can I expect to get my results?

Contact Civil Fingerprint Services (CFSS) via email and provide the following information:

  • Your full name and date of birth;
  • The date and the reason you sent the application;
  • Whether the processing fee was included (if applicable);

NOTE: Civil Fingerprint Services is currently receiving a high volume of e-mail, therefore there may be delays in receiving a response. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Q2. I need to submit fingerprints for a criminal record check for Visa/Immigration (and etc) purposes. What is the procedure?

Q3.How do I apply for a security clearance for employment purposes?

The RCMP does not grant security clearances. The sponsoring/hiring agency initiates the security clearance process. At the formal request of the sponsoring/hiring agency, the RCMP certifies criminal record checks.

Q4. How/where do I get a fingerprint form?

Civil Fingerprint Services Section can provide forms by mail. Contact CFSS by phone at 613-998-6362 or by e-mail at civilnps@rcmp-grc.gc.ca . Provide your full name, mailing address, and specify the number of forms required.
