Q. Report a crime - I have information on what I think is a criminal activity, but on the mail/comments form I do not see a specific area where I can send this information. Should I send it anyway?

A: To report a crime, or for immediate police assistance, contact your local RCMP Detachment or the police service of jurisdiction in your area. If you reside outside Canada and assistance is required in Canada, your local police can request it from the appropriate Canadian agency. If you wish to submit information anonymously , when deemed appropriate, information is forwarded from this site to the appropriate area or agency - your geographic location is required for this process.

Q.Internet crime: How do I report what I consider to be criminal activity (e.g. hate literature) perpetrated over the Internet?

A:Crimes committed via the Internet are usually under the Criminal Code of Canada. The RCMP considers that criminal activities conducted via the Internet are traditional crimes that are committed through the use of an electronic communication device, and that investigations in such cases are the responsibility of municipal police departments. You should therefore file a complaint with your local police service and at the same time voice your concerns with the Internet Service Provider (ISP) hosting the offensive material. The Canadian Association of Internet Providers ( www.caip.ca ) would also welcome your comments or concerns in regards to Canadian ISPs.

Q. Reporting child pornography: While surfing the Internet, I have come across what I believe to be child pornography. Where do I report it?

A: To report online sexual exploitation of a child (i.e. child pornography, luring, child sex tourism, child prostitution), please visit CYBERTIP.ca and complete and submit the Reporting Form.
