Overview

The International Travel and Visits Branch (ITVB) is part of International Policing, a sector of the Federal and International Operations (FIO) Directorate. Established in 2003, ITVB manages and facilitates employee international travel.

The Branch is also mandated to host and ensure proper protocol for high level visits by foreign police delegations.

In March 2005, ITVB launched a policy to guide employees on matters of international travel and visits.

In addition, because the RCMP hosts numerous law enforcement officials from all over the world, all employees are encouraged to consult the visits portion of policy when thinking of inviting an international delegate.

Activities

ITVB's two sections -- International Travel and International Visits and Protocol -- provide the following services to all RCMP employees:

• approval of international administrative travel requests
• processing for special (green) diplomatic (red) passports and visas
• guidance and advice on the new national policy
• promotion of employee health and safety through the Travel and Visit Tracking System (TVTS)
• coordination of logistics, including the development of itineraries, for visits by foreign police delegations
• liaison with embassy officials of a country's visiting delegation
