Policing Support Services (PSS) is responsible for providing support services to front line police officers, including:
service lines which interact mainly with units internal to the RCMP:Canadian Firearms Program: provides direct operational support to law enforcement in all firearm-related inquiries and investigations; provides direct service to the public in relation to the administration of the Firearms Act and its associated Regulations, which govern possession, Licensing, transportation, use, Registration and storage of firearms in Canada.
Chief Information Officer Sector: is responsible for the RCMP's Information Management and Information Technology (IM/IT) program. The program includes all information necessary to carry out the RCMP's mandate, as well as the systems used to access, communicate, record, share and manage this information.Technical Operations: provides direct operational support, management, advice and policy in technical and specialized areas of policing to enable front-line members and partners working to enforce the law and prevent and investigate organized crime and terrorism.
Canadian Police College (CPC): provides advanced and specialized learning and training to Canadian and foreign law enforcement agencies.
Canadian Police Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (CPCMEC): is comprised of two distinct yet supportive Centres: the National Child Exploitation Centre (NCECC) and National Missing Children Services (NMCS). These Centres work together to provide investigative assistance to local, municipal, regional, national and international policing partners.
Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC): an integrated, automated system which provides tactical information on crimes and criminals. It is the only national information-sharing system that links criminal justice and law enforcement partners across Canada and internationally.
Criminal Intelligence Service Canada (CISC): unites the Canadian criminal intelligence community by facilitating the timely production and exchange of criminal information and intelligence across Canada. Comprised of a central bureau, ten provincial bureaus and 380 member agencies, CISC supports the effort to reduce the harmful effects of organized and serious crime on Canadian society.
Forensic Science and Identification Services (FS&IS): is an integral part of National Police Services, with a mandate to provide quality investigative support services for front line policing.
