WINTER 2008: CANADIAN
PUBLISHING & LITERATURE
Course No. YTBCDNLIT 328/4
THE NORTH END CLIPS
An unofficial guide to Can-Lit 2
Course Description:
Based on successful completion of WINTER
2007: THE THEORY OF THE YOUTUBE CLASS (MEDIA & LITERATURE
Course No. YTBCDNLIT 327/4)
Winter
Blahs got you down? Maybe a quick dose of Canadian literary videos will
cheer you up! A few things have changed since last year's introductory
course. Open Book
Toronto and House of
Anansi for example, have both started YouTube Channels. There's
also Book Shorts.
Students will continue to
watch, study, and post comments on various clips on the subject of
"Canadian Literature" "Canadian Publishing"
"Canadian Authors" "Canadian Books" using the
intercontinental vanity campus for promotional and archival content.
Students are encouraged to note the quality of videos and the sources of
the videos. Are they being published by the authors, publishers,
publicists or possibly enemies of the authors? Students can interact
with video material by writing reviews or uploading new content. Topics
in the course include book pricing, author readings and promotion,
author interviews, the state of book reviewing and Canadian literary
content on "the tube". (3
credits)
