While previous attempts to amend the Indian Act in 1968 and
then again in the late 1990s ended up in the parliamentary equivalent
of a landfill site, INAC Minister Robert Nault's legislative
foray appears to have an increasing sense of inevitability to
it.
This even as the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs winds
its way across the nation to conduct public hearings on the
proposed Bill C-7 legislation, commonly referred to as the First
Nations Governance Act (FNGA).
