XII.

YOU ARE IN THE SKY TONIGHT

You are in the sky tonight;
I see you there
full and naked.
Out of a clear sky
you smile down upon me.
I can almost touch you, feel you
tug upon my gravity.

You were so high above me,
your hands pushing against the wall,
your hair tossing the light everywhere.

I could not believe my luck,
to be your lover
moving beneath you like the warm ocean.

Years ago,
on St. Lucia,
the full moon woke me up
out of restless dreams,
bathing me in her cool light
while, in the night's shadows
beside me, my wife slept on.

How could I know then
that it was you
calling to me
over all the years and miles?

You are in the sky tonight,
lighting the path I take,
whispering to me of luck and passion.
I reach out
to move my hand across your face
and I touch the silver light.
