Congratulations to Gilles St-Laurent

Gilles St-Laurent from the National Library’s Music Division recently received the prestigious CEDAR award. Based in Cambridge, England, the award recognizes excellence in audio restoration. Gilles received his award in the category for CD remastering from a vintage recording  -  pre 1950 for his work on Madame Édouard Bolduc’s La chanson du bavard. This 78-rpm, which was originally recorded on April 9, 1931, in Montréal, was restored along with 150 of her songs as part of the La Bolduc retrospective on the National Library’s Virtual Gramophone Web site (www.nlc-bnc.ca/gramophone).
