Canadian <Metadata> Forum

On September 19 and 20, 2003, Library and Archives Canada hosted the Canadian <Metadata> Forum. For the first time, metadata creators and users from many different areas  -  not only librarians and archivists, but museologists, academics, and specialists in geo-spatial, statistical and multimedia information (video, films, inter-active presentations)  -  met and exchanged information on how they are using metadata. Nearly 250 people participated in the two-day event.

The forum brought to light the many different ways metadata is currently being used, an important first step in enabling stakeholders to work together to ensure that the metadata created can be used across these different communities to improve Canadians’ ability to find the information they need.

Forum abstracts and presentations are available online at http://www.nlc-bnc.ca/metaforum/n11-210-e.html.
