What goes up must come down. A ball you throw in the air. A paper plane gliding across the room.

The same rule goes for you too. Whenever you climb an object, run around or participate in sports, there's a chance you could fall and end up with cuts, bumps and bruises. You could even break your bones.

Be an Action Hero, not a Broken Hero. You can't fight gravity, but you can conquer the dangers around you. How? Just read the stuff below. Then you'll be ready to go!

Check it out first.

Is your playground built for soft landings, maybe with "shock-absorbing" material like sand? Before you play in any playground, check it out. Or you might just learn the hard way. Do not wear clothing with drawstrings. Remove your helmet before using the playground equipment. Both can get stuck in the playground equipment and cause strangulation.

Use playground equipment properly.

Play on the equipment designed for your age group. Have fun and remember kids don't fly so stay off railings and roofs.

Keep off the tall stuff.

Don't climb tall structures, like trees, or statues. Do not fly kites near high voltage wires. Even if your kite gets tangled in tree, or you see a kitten stuck up a tree, stay on the ground. Tell an adult.

Mind the kids.

You may not notice it, but young kids look up to older kids. That means they're looking up to you and watching everything that you do! So lead by example. Show them how you always think first, check things out and play safely. And never force kids to do something that could hurt them. Just think: you're their hero!
