Mauve

"Mauve" is a learning aid for teenagers covering topics such as life, love, school, friendships, and family, as well as depression, suicide, drug abuse, school drop-out, and delinquency. It is designed to reach out to all youth, and especially to those who resist adults' conventional way of communication, to help them gain a broader perspective and avoid no-win situations. "Mauve" uses the interactivity of multimedia as a basis for its awareness-building approach and, with its emphasis on teen participation, presents content reflecting their intensity, authenticity and creativity. "Mauve" will provide counsellors, educators and other professionals with a new communication tool to help stimulate reflection and re-establish dialogue with youth, especially those trapped within themselves.

A CD-ROM with a unique approach to mental health promotion

Teenagers take to the streets with video cameras. They meet with other teens and talk about life and death, friendship and love, work and stress, themselves and the adults in their lives. These personal experiences are often humorous and sometimes troubling, but always true to life. Mauve is a virtual journey down these streets with only the mouse as a guide. It is a chance to meet teens and hear their stories, to face the hurdles of adolescence and discover real solutions to real problems
