Outcomes

Many of the groups' recommended "next steps" bore strong similarities. They have been grouped within the five common theme headings described earlier. Some impact directly on more than one area, and as such, appear to be listed more than once. However, in each case there is a variation on specific aspects emphasized within the recommendation.

Overwhelmingly, workgroup outcomes converged into common ideas or actions.

Workgroups were asked to classify their recommendations into three categories:

  • Those that could be implemented immediately with measurable return, or "Quick Hits."
  • Those that could be immediately acted upon but with less measurable impact.
  • Those that would require further discussion and/or planning.
The forum resulted in the recognition of a need for a strategic shift in processes, thinking, and service delivery.

Most fell into the latter category, and were grounded in the perception of a need for a strategic shift in service delivery. Those that were designated as "Quick Hits" have been identified with a graphic .

The following sections provide an overview of the comments and issues raised by various participants and workgroups during the forum, taken in aggregate. The specific recommendations relating to each topic area are summarized in list form within each section. Recommendations listed first-and highlighted in a gray box-are those that found a strong level of consensus among the groups. While they have been consolidated, the original wording is reflected wherever possible.
