IntroductionFebruary 1999 INTEGRATION
BRANCH Introduction Welcome to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) policy manual for the citizenship program. Part of CICs mandate is to maximize benefits from global migration, foster integration of immigrants within the Canadian fabric and to raise the awareness of all Canadians of the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. CIC employees are dedicated to providing clients with service that is timely and efficient. This manual is meant to help employees achieve that end within the citizenship program by providing program guidelines for national consistency as well as accurate and up to date information on citizenship services and policies. This policy manual is the result of collaborative efforts on the part of knowledgeable CIC employees from across the program. Special thanks go out to the current and former individual employees at the Case Processing Centre in Sydney, Departmental Delivery Network, Guy Favreau office, Woodbridge office, Winnipeg Regional office and the Registrars office who devoted their time, skill and expertise to the development of this manual. Staff at Informatics Management Technologies Branch (IMTB) transcribed the printed text into an electronic format. Their assistance in bringing this manual to all users is appreciated. Integration Branch is responsible for the content in this manual. The manual is a work in progress. Questions related to functional guidance or comments and suggestions for additions to the manual are welcome. Please refer comments and questions to: Manager, Legislative
Compliance Our hope is that the manual will serve as an effective training tool for new employees and as a welcome resource for experienced staff. Norman Sabourin, Registrar for Canadian citizenship |
