The Library and Archives Canada Management Board

Daniel J. Caron

Daniel J. Caron joined Library and Archives Canada in April 2003. He is currently Director General of the Corporate Management and Government Records Sector.

During his career, Mr. Caron has acquired considerable experience as a researcher, lecturer, teacher and coordinator of large teams operating within the federal government.

Mr. Caron joined the Federal Public Service in 1982, working first for the Bureau of Competition Policy and subsequently for National Museums of Canada. He then went to New Brunswick, where he served in the regional office of the Department of Employment and Immigration. Upon his return to Ottawa in 1987, he joined the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development. In 1995 he moved on to the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec (Montréal). Four years later, Mr. Caron returned to Ottawa to assume the position of Director, Innovation and Quality Services, with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. He later joined Human Resources and Social Development Canada as Director General of Administrative Services. In April 2002, he was appointed Director, Operations and Implementation of Leadership, with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat.

As well as working in the public service, Mr. Caron has been teaching for number of years at the University of Ottawa School of Management and at the École nationale d'administration publique.

Mr. Caron holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Economics from the Université Laval, as well as a doctorate in Applied Human Sciences (public law and strategic management) from the Université de Montréal.
