Land Matters Consultation Initiative (LMCI) Update - July 2008

Land Matters Consultation InitiativeThe NEB recently released overview summaries of what it heard during consultation meetings for LMCI Streams 1, 2 and 4. The NEB held 45 meetings with interested parties across Canada between January and May, and received written input from 13 participants.

The July consultation summaries are available via the Land Matters Consultation Initiative web page, and in the LMCI Document Repository [Filing A19341].

The National Energy Board (NEB) would like to thank all of the people who have given their time and energy to contribute to this large consultation undertaking.

For the LMCI process, the NEB made a commitment to ensure a transparent consultation process and documented all of the meetings for external audiences. Detailed meeting notes from all LMCI consultation meetings are available to the public through the LMCI Consultation Schedule Web Page.

Looking further ahead, the NEB plans to release draft reports on the actions it proposes to implement based on what was suggested throughout the LMCI process in November of 2008. Parties will be invited to provide comments during November and December.

Final reports will be released in the first three months of 2009.

NEB hearing RH-2-2008 for LMCI Stream 3: Pipeline Abandonment - Financial Issues (RH-2-2008) is still planned for January of 2009. The NEB is also working on plans for a technical conference this October. General information and any new announcements for this hearing are available on the hearing web page.

Through the Land Matters Consultation Initiative, the NEB is continuing to learn about issues affecting Canadians, and developing broader and stronger relationships with individuals and groups.  The NEB looks forward to continuing this work and enhancing those relationships in the months and years ahead.
